Harry Bernard was the son of Andrew Frances and Hortensia Jane Rhodes McCray. He married Phoebe Elizabeth Claxton on Feb. 7, 1900 in Butler, Bates Co., MO. They lived their entire married lives in Kansas City, MO. They had two sons Walter Bernard and Harry Claxton McCray. Harry B. worked in the lumber business and eventually started the McCray Lumber Company, which is still in the family today. Harry's son Harry Claxton McCray Sr. took over the business and ran the business until his son Harry Jr. took the reins.
