William Leonard Tritapoe, 81, of Boonsboro, Md., died Friday, March 8, 2013 at his home.

Born on January 18, 1932, in Yarrowsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Calvin Thomas Tritapoe and Rhoda Younkins Tritapoe.

He graduated from Brunswick High School on June 8, 1948.

He was married to his loving wife of 39 years, Janet Wheaton Tritapoe.

Bill served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Clopper-Michael American Legion, Post 10 in Boonsboro, Md.

Bill loved the town of Boonsboro and previously served on the Town Council as a Councilman.

Bill had many professions during his lifetime. He worked as a salesman at many car dealerships and owned Tritapoe Auto Sales in Middletown, MD. He retired from Sharrett's Auto Center in Hagerstown, MD. He was a licensed real estate broker, who had worked for many agencies. He owned South Mountain Realty in Boonsboro, Md. Bill also was a long-time auctioneer, and he and his brother Calvin operated Pleasant Valley Auction, in Brownsville, Md.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Mindy Barrons Allen and partner Nancy Flippin of Atlanta, Ga., Linda Tritapoe Walla and husband Steven of Keedysville, Md., Jennie Barrons O'Leary of Boonboro, Md., Robin Tritapoe Michael and husband John of Boonsboro, Md. and Allison Barrons and fiance Page Gay of Boonsboro, Md.; six grandchildren, Bryan Walla of Hagerstown, Md., Kevin Walla of Westminister, Md., Luke Michael of Boonsboro, Md., Jared Michael of Boonsboro, Md., Katie O'Leary Salas of Ewing, Va., and Niki O'Leary of Yukon, Pa.; two great-granddaughters, Cassidy Hope O'Leary of Yukon, Pa., and Emily Grace Walla of Hagerstown, Md.; one brother, James Tritapoe, of Brownsville, Md.; two sisters, Eileen Tritapoe Bayles of Frederick, Md., and Patsy Tritapoe Mohler of Brunswick, Md.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward Tritapoe, Calvin Tritapoe, and Richard (Dick) Tritapoe.

Bill was a member of Boonsboro Family Worship Center, 7605 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Rev. Jack C. Payne, Jr. and Rev. Jeff Summers will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by the Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 of Boonsboro. Burial will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, Inc., 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
