HAROLD E. KILEY

Harold E. Kiley, age 91, formerly of Two Rivers, died Thursday morning, Aug. 13, 2009, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

Harold was born April 23, 1918, in Two Rivers, son of the late Eugene and Vera (Blume) Kiley. He was a graduate of Washington High School, class of 1936. Harold attended UW-Milwaukee before being drafted into the Army. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was involved in multiple campaigns, including theaters in North Africa, Southern France and in the Rhine Campaign. We also take pride in his participation in the landing on Omaha Beach. On Aug. 18, 1945, he married the former Margaret Sistar in South Carolina. She preceded him in death May 21, 2006. Harold was a member of the Washington High School Band, the Meistersinger Guild, Bob Helm Orchestra. He joined the Musicians Union and was able to put himself through college by filling in playing with the Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman Orchestra when in Chicago. While in the service he played in pick-up bands for entertainment. Harold worked his way up the ladder at Mirro from the Shipping Department to production scheduling manager. He then became a member of the Mirro Management Club and also served as president of the club. He retired from Mirro after 35 years of service and one week later became a part time security guard for Mirro, retiring again after 20 more years. He was also a member of the Silver K Kiwanis Club, serving as president of that club. He was a member of Emanuel Methodist Church Choir where he was one of the soloists. Harold also was an avid bowler.

(Survivors omitted for privacy.)

He was also preceded in death by two sisters: infant sister, Lois Mae Kiley; Ruth (Ralph) Jacquette; and one brother, Kenneth Kiley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Jeff Uhlers. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc. Military rites will be accorded by the Two Rivers V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.

The family will greet relatives and friends Monday, Aug. 17, 2009, at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m.

The family would like to thank the staff of Shady Lane for the personal care and dignity shown to their father during the past few years. We especially recognize the fourth floor staff who are not just living angels, but truly became treasured friends in our hearts.
