Bessie L. Strohl, 87, of Milford, Pa., died Saturday, April 21, 2007 in Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, N.Y. She was a retired custodian and cook for Dingmans Ferry Elementary School, from 1964 to its closing, after which she was a custodian for Delaware Valley School District and a toll collector for Dingmans Ferry Bridge. Mrs. Strohl was a member of the Matamoras Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. The daughter of Wilmer and Elizabeth (Smith) Knappenberger, she was born in Lehighton, Pa. on February 22, 1920. She was the widow of Walter Theodore Strohl, who predeceased her in 1965.

Survivors: Daughter, Judith Shay of Matamoras, Pa.; four sons, Theodore Walter Strohl of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Blaine Edward Strohl of Lake City, Fla., Dale Paul Strohl of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Dean Martin Strohl of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters, Remie Puluka of Somerville, N.J. and Nira Frantz of Palmerton, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.

Services: will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 in Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 W. Harford St., Milford, Pa. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday, April 23 from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. Burial will take place in Delaware Cemetery, Dingmans Ferry.
