Carroll Curtis Barnett, 85, of Crossett, died Thursday, February 16, 2006, at his residence. Born August 26, 1920, in Crossett to Louis Harvey and Betty Elizabeth Burchell Barnett, he was a retired self-employed logging contractor, an Army veteran of WWII, a former board member of Ashley Chicot Electric Co-op, a former member of the Arkansas Forestry Association, a former president of the Cooter Deer Camp and a member of Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.


He is survived by four daughters: Carolyn King, Betty Fran Adams, and Mary Alice McMahan, all of Crossett, and Sylvia Ann Martin of Hamburg; ten grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Lorraine Barnett, a granddaughter, Sandra Lynn Black, his parents, Louis Harvey and Betty Elizabeth Barnett, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 18, in the Jarvis Chapel Baptist Church with Bros. Jimmie Lewis and Lloyd Gibbs officiating. Burial followed services at the Carter Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law served as pallbearers.
