LaVeta worked at the Bridgeport Nursing Home as the head cook and also worked at Suttle Apparatus in Lawrenceville. She was a member at Shiloh Baptist Church. LaVeta was a Cardinals fan, she enjoyed cooking and traveling, and being with her family. She was a member of the Republican Party where she also served on their election board.
LaVeta was preceeded in death by her parents, husband, son; Danny Wells, brother; Archie Lane, and one grandson; Sean Wells.
LaVeta is survived by her son; Gary (Brenda) Wells of Bridgeport, IL; daughter; Darla (Chris) Black of Newburgh, IN, brother; Leon Lane of Flora, IL; five grandchildren; Brad (Lori) Wells of Sumner, IL; Brent Wells of Newburgh, IN; Jamie (Franco) Delly of Newburgh, IN; Brandon (Kyla) Wells of Newburgh, IN; Kyle Black of Newburgh, IN, eleven great-grandchildren; Sofia, Viviana, Brayden, McKenna, Ryland, Hendricks, Branson, Ross, Olivia, Davis, Addison, and several nephews and nieces.
Visitation was Tuesday, March 12th at the Emmons-Macey and Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, IL.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 13th at 11AM at the funeral home.
Burial followed at Cresthaven Memorial Park in Claremont, IL.
Memorial donations can be made to Shiloh Baptist Church; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
