Dr. Carl T. Baker, 67, of Chesapeake, Ohio, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington. He was born Oct. 4, 1933, in Belle Vernon, Pa., son of the late Thomas W. and Katie Kennedy Baker.

He graduated from West Virginia University and Ohio State University. He was a veterinarian, author and a member of the Chesapeake United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the South Point Masonic Lodge 497 AF&AM, OVMA, Chesapeake Memorial Post 64 0 American Legion. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a Kentucky Colonel, a former Lawrence County commissioner, and served on the Chesapeake School Board.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sanders Baker; four children and spouses, Carla and Gary McCague, of Parker, Colo., Sandra Baker and Charles and Amy Baker, all of Chesapeake, and Donna Baker, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; brothers and sisters, Grace Chittum and Wayne Baker, both of Morgantown, Marion Hinkle, of Denver, Colo., and Barbara Youchem, of Castle Rock, Colo; and six grandchildren, Mark Baker, Courtney Baker, and Kaitlyn Baker, all of Chesapeake, Barbara McCague, Brittany McCague, and Brianna McCag ue, all of Parker.

He was preceded in death by a son, Wesley Baker; a sister, Evelyn Foster, and a brother, Don Baker.

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Chesapeake United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Beckwith officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Proctorville VFW Post 6878. Schneider-Slack Funeral Home in Chesapeake is in charge of arrangements.
