He received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal Ribbon with Device, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, two Overseas Bars, Air Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and Bronze Star Medal with V Device."
He was a member of the Glen Alpine First Baptist Church and retired as a master planner with Rexnord, Inc.
