Agnes emigrated to New Jersey, USA from Paisley, Scotland in 1947 to join her oldest sister Esther Hopkirk Cooper. She married George McHugh in 1947. They relocated to Mansfield, England for a few years, where George died in 1981. Agnes then returned to Portland, Maine, USA where her daughter and family lived. She lived out her life in this location, dying in 2007. Her daughter returned her ashes to be buried with George in Warsop Cemetery.
