Elsie was born December 15, 1933 in Litchville, North Dakota, the daughter of Emil and Adelia (Kolb) Alber.
She grew up on the family farm until she married Lawrence Sailer on May 28, 1953. Shortly after their marriage, Lawrence left for Korea to serve in the Army for 24 months. Elsie worked and lived in Litchville and Fargo until he returned. Then they lived in Valley City where they raised their 7 children and moved to Fessenden for a few years until their last child graduated from high school.
Elsie and Lawrence both decided to move to Billings, MT to attend Barber College for a year and then moved to Fargo to finish barber school and graduate from Moler Barber College. They opened Towne Barber Shop in Fargo in 1990 where Lawrence still continues to barber. Elsie barbered until last year.
Elsie was called "Mom" by many and was known for her great "caramel rolls." She loved to bake and cook and sold Avon for almost 35 years.
She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Lawrence; children, Barbara (Brian) Kunda, Olympia, WA, Diane (Dale) Rosenberg, New Rockford, ND, Kathy Hovland, Fargo, ND, Kevin (Karen) Sailer, Huson, MT, Larry (Danette) Sailer, Clovis, CA, Scott (Carmen) Sailer, Modesto, CA and Jeff Sailer, Fargo, ND, brothers; LeRoy (Darlene) Alber,, LaMoure, ND, Larry (Deb) Alber, Marion, ND, Dennis (Karla) Alber, Bismarck, ND, Darryl Alber, Denver, CO, sisters; Doris Daniels, Bismarck, ND, and Dorothy (Lyle) Rodin, Marion, ND, 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Adelia Alber, and sister, Eileen Sailer.
