LISA J. LAWLER

Lisa J. Lawler, age 39, of Adams Street in Two Rivers, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at home, surrounded by her family.

Lisa was born June 20, 1964, daughter of John and Elizabeth (née Saunders) Lawler.

She was a 1982 graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers. She went on to receive her Associate Degree in Accounting at Lakeshore Technical College with a 4.0 grade point average. Lisa was employed with Lakeshore Accounting and Jindra Plumbing and Heating until her illness forced her retirement.

Lisa was a lifelong member of Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church were she was baptized and confirmed. She was an avid horseback rider winning hundreds of trophies and ribbons for showing, racing, and raising Arabian horses. Lisa also raised golden retrievers. She was a member of the former Lakeshore Curling Club and the Green Bay Curling Club until her illness. For 25 years Lisa was a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers attending many games including the Badgers Rose Bowl victory. She also enjoyed boating and waterskiing. Lisa never said, "Why is this happening to me?" through her 17 major surgeries. She never said anything bad about anyone and was an inspiration to all her who knew her. Lisa will be sadly missed by her family. She was an angel on earth and now is an angel in heaven.

Lisa is survived by her parents: John and Elizabeth; a brother: Larry Lawler, his fiancee Diana Gil, and her son Josh, California; a sister, Laurie Becker and friend Robin Hauser; nieces Nicole Becker and friend Seth, Melissa Becker and friend Bob; nephew William (BJ) Becker, and their father William Becker all of Two Rivers and Manitowoc; uncles and aunts, Alex and Carol Menza of Hillside, New Jersey, William and Betty Saunders, Floyd, Ruth and Beatrice Lawler, all of Two Rivers; cousins, Jackie Saunders and fiancee Scott Van Willigen, Milwaukee, Alex Menza, California, Christopher, Philip and Jackie Menza, New Jersey. She is also survived by other cousins, relatives, and many friends, including Chelsea, her golden retriever and Miss Kitty, her Siamese cat.

Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents: Mort and Florence Saunders, and Harley and Anne Lawler; aunts: Marcie Saunders, Rose Sorge, Helen Walters, Gladys McKenna, Elizabeth, Dorothy, and Esther Lawler; and uncles: Robert and Daniel Lawler.

We would like to thank the nurses on third floor and short-stay surgery at Holy Family Hospital for their compassionate care of Lisa while in the hospital. Also, the wonderful care from Dr. John Pirsch, her transplant doctor, and Pam Mattke, her coordinator over the years; all from the University Hospital in Madison. We would also like to thank Brenda Behnke, Susie Kornely, Patti Heise, Merrily Zimmer, Mary Schleis, Lisa Shimanek, Peggy Beyer, Chris Suess, Steve Riesling, and Dr. Francar, all from Manitowoc, who so graciously cared for Lisa so she could be at home. During Lisa's life, she received three gifts of life. We encourage everyone to consider giving the gift of life themselves, by signing their D.M.V. organ donor cards. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, and at Our Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church. Entombment will be at Knollwood Memorial Park & Chapel Mausoleum, State Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.

God saw she was getting tired and a cure was not to be;
So He put His arms around her, and whispered, "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer, and saw her fade away.
Although we lover her dearly, We could not make her stay
A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands to rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
