Ruth Victoria Sabongan, 74 of White Plains, Maryland died on March 9, 2010 at home. Born on January 15, 1936 in Itmann, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Mr. Joseph Toliver and Elizabeth Allie Ashley. Mrs. Sabongan retired as a Data Processing Supervisor Specialist from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. She also served proudly in the Marine Corp from 1955 to 1960. She has resided in White Plains since 1975 and was formerly of Oxon Hill, Maryland. She was a devoted wife and mother. Ruth loved baking, shopping with her daughter, and her beloved dog Tasha. Throughout her life, she had a fervent love for animals and supported many charities and causes. Ruth was a strong and spirited woman. Survived by her husband, Julian Sabongan; children, Sandra Maria Sabongan and Robert Darrell Sabongan. Visitation will be held at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall Maryland from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, March 11, 2010. A funeral service will be held at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home at 11am on March 12, 2010. Interment will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Waldorf, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to either the Doris Day Animal Foundation or Veterans Foundation of America. If flowers are chosen, please send to the funeral home.
