Raymond J. Barnes, 76 years old, of North Ridgeville, Ohio died on December 25, 2008 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

Mr. Barnes was born in North Ridgeville on December 20, 1932 and lived there all his life. He was a decorated United States Marine serving during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He attended St. Peter Catholic Church and was the owner/operator of the Elyria Lawn Service for 50 years.

Mr. Barnes is survived by two sons, Robert and Richard and one daughter, Janet all of North Ridgeville; and one grandson, Ryan of Charlotte, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by three sisters, Catherine Canter of Arizona, Shirley Barton of Elyria, and Barb (Bill) Linden of Avon; and one brother, Alfred Barnes of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Marie (Tootsie) (nee Walla) Barnes who also died on Christmas day in 2007; and one brother Robert Barnes.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035 on Sunday from 5-8 P.M. Funeral services will be in the funeral home on Monday at 11;00 A.M. with Beth McKee, Chaplin of Wesleyan Village, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville, Ohio with full military honors provided by North Ridgeville VFW Post 9871.
