ADELA J. MEIER

Adela J. Meier, age 84, of 345 Jackson St., Valders, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday morning Aug. 23, 2005, at the Manitowoc Health Care Center, Manitowoc, after a short illness.

She was born on May 30, 1921, in Charlestown, daughter of the late Peter and Anna Schwarz Geiser. Adela was a graduate of Chilton High School with the class of 1939.

She married Elmer Meier on April 6, 1942, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Charlestown. The couple farmed in Clarks Mills until 1970, when they moved to Valders.

Adela worked at Leverenz Shoe Factory until her retirement in 1985. Adela was a member of the Christian Mothers and the Valders Senior Citizens. She was an avid quilter and card player. Adela enjoyed watching the Brewers and Packers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer Meier of Valders; her children, Jan and Lee Batchelder of Pahrump, Nev., Darlene and Dennis Weisensel of Green Bay, Carol and Greg Brazzale of Sheboygan, Marge and Bill Engelbrecht of Manitowoc, Donna and Dennis Bohm of Stevens Point, Roy and Sharon Meier of Manitowoc, Mary and Greg Stern of Neenah, and Julie and Rich Galien of St. Nazianz; 18 grandchildren, Dr. Lori (Phil) Hardy, Amy (Jason) Olivieri, Hans Batchelder, Andy (Janea) Weisensel, Anne Marie (Nathan) Cummings, Jeff (Kristen) Brazzale, Jill (Mike) Rauwerdink, Jon Brazzale, Jennifer (Luke) Stadler, Bill Engelbrecht, Betsy, Kyle and Keely Bohm, Rachel, Becca and Jacob Stern, and Dana and Marcus Galien; two great-grandchildren, Ella Jayne Hardy and Lola Rose Olivieri; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Sylvia Woelfel of Chilton, Armella Wettstein of Chilton, Stella and Nick Nicolay of Chilton and Lydia Larson of Milwaukee; one sister-in-law, Lucille Geiser of Chilton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Theresa and Don Schaefer of Chilton, John and Carol Meier of New Holstein. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Adela was also preceded in death by an infant son, an infant grandson, one nephew, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Herbert Geiser, Leo and Asella Geiser; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Woelfel, John Wettstein, Gerald Larson, Robert and Jeanne Meier and Al Meier.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 until 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:30 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. James Jugenheimer with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, Highway 310, Manitowoc on Monday.

Adela's beautiful quilts touched many lives around the world.
