CYRIL A. MILLER

Cyril A. Miller, age 82, of 810 Flambeau St., Manitowoc, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, July 27, 1998, in Wittenberg, Wis. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 1998, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, with entombment at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth. Graveside Military rites will be accorded by the Otto Oas V.F.W. 3659.

Cyril was born April 6, 1916, in Green Bay, son of the late Orville and Susie Oshwaldt[?] Miller. Cyril was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1934. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in North Africa, Europe and China during World War II.

On June 21, 1947, he married the former Valeria M. Stryzeski at St. Mary Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Cy enjoyed traveling, building four homes and was devoted to his family.

He was employed with Wisconsin Malting Company for 36 years until his retirement in 1978. Cyril played football in Manitowoc for the semi-pro team called the Galloping Gaels from 1937-1946 into the Galloping Gaels Hall of Fame this October.

Survivors include his wife, Valeria, Manitowoc; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dianne Miller, Milwaukee, Debbie Jack Burke, Manitowoc, Maddy and Rick Froom, Wittenberg; one son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Barb Miller, Moscow, Russia; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Chandra, Brandon, and Tommy Froom, Shamus, Patrick, Clancy, and Colleen Burke; one brother and sister-in-law, Winford and Shirley Miller, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Orville, Alvin and Gordon; and two sisters, Mildred and Mae.

Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., led by Deacon Kenneth Nelesen.
