Richard C. Muench, Sr., age 81, of 6312 West Custer St., Manitowoc, died Monday evening, March 8, 1999, at Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, Ariz.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 1999, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno. Rev. Dave Beaudry will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum.

Mr. Muench was born July 31, 1917, in the town of Cato, son of the late Alois and Anna Riederer Muench. He attended St. Michael’s grade school, Whitelaw. On May 6, 1941, he was married to the former Luella Anna Hill at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Whitelaw.

In the past, Richard had worked for Hamann Construction Co. and also McMullen and Pitz. For 30 years, Richard and Luella owned and operated Muench’s Supper Club in Alverno, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Alverno, the Eagles Aerie #706 of Manitowoc and the TPA-Post L, Manitowoc. Richard was an avid Cubs fan and hasn’t missed a spring training in Arizona for the past 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Luella A., Manitowoc; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary (Marlene) Muench, Wisconsin Rapids, Richard Muench Jr., Manitowoc, Gene (Judy) Muench, Sturgeon Bay, one daughter and one son-in-law, Linda Muench, Mesa, Ariz. and her good friend, Art Sayward, Elroy Ringmeier, Two Rivers; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Norbert (Margaret) Muench, Whitelaw, Walter (Dorothy) Muench, Whitelaw: two sisters and brothers-in-law, Agnes (Clarence) Kocian, Kellnersville, Lucille (Ruebin) Marshburn, Manitowoc; three sisters-in-law, Marion Mayerl, Whitelaw, Shirley Denk, Sun City, Ariz., Georgiana Hill, Whitelaw; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends survive.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Janice Ringmeier; three brothers, Louis, Oscar, and Bernard Muench; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Muench and Lydia Muench; three brothers-in-law, John Mayerl, Willy Denk, LeRoy Hill.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville, on Friday, from 4-8 p.m. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. by Fr. Richard Heymen. Relatives and friends may also call on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Alverno, from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 10 a.m.
