South bend---Richard Duane Bromley, 60, of Statesville, N.C., formerly of South Bend passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, in Iredell Memorial hospital after an extended illness.
He was born to Richard and Marjory (Blendeman) Bromley in south bend, Indiana on March 10, 1947. Dick was a graduate of New Carlisle High school, Class of 1965, New Carlisle, Indiana, were he excelled in all sports. He went on to attend Western Michigan University.
Dick entered the U.S. Air force during the Vietnam War and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 297 in New Carlisle.
Dick was employed in the construction trade most of his life, most recently he worked on historic home restoration in Statesville. In his spare time, dick was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing.
Dick is survived by his lone-time companion, Alice Freeze; Twine daughters, Buffy Brunker and Bunny Nelson, both living in Idaho.
Also surviving his siblings, Dr. and Mrs. Ben (Carmon) Bromley of Noblesville, Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Diana) Bromley, of Statesville, James Bromley of Middlebury, Indiana, and Elizabeth Bromley of North Freedom, Wisconsin.
There will be no Visitation and private memorial will be held at a later date.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Iredell County, North Carolina.
