IRA O. RYEN
Oliver Ryen, 73, of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, was found dead Monday of natural causes in the farm home in which he had been born and where he lived alone. His body was discovered by a bakery route man making a delivery. Coroner Dr. Theodore Teitgen placed the time of death as somewhere between late Saturday night and early Sunday.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Faith Lutheran (Gjerpen) Church, Valders. The Rev. Robert A. Onkka will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Ryen was born Jan. 30, 1889, on the home farm, the son of the late Thomas and Tilda Anderson Ryen. He never married.
During 1918-19 he participated in World War I and saw action in France and Germany. He was a charter member of the Valders American Legion Post but was no longer active in recent years. The Post will conduct military rites at graveside.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Dora Biegel of Manitowoc, two nieces and four nephews.
A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the Farley Funeral Home, Valders, from 4 p.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday when the body will be moved to the church to lie in state until the hour of services.
