Sister Mary Amelia Blottman
The funeral Mass for Sister Mary Amelia Blottman, a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 654 years, was celebrated Jan. 26 at the Notre Dame Convent chapel in Reading. Sister Blottman died Jan. 24 at Notre Dame Health Center. She was 94.
The Greenville, Ohio, native professed final vows in 1935. She spent 19 years teaching primary grades in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, at Sts Peter and Paul School in Reading, old St. Paul School in downtown Cincinnati, and Holy Trinity, St. Rita, and St. Agnes schools in Dayton. In addition, she taught for seven years in Columbus.
Sister Blottman retired from the classroom in 1968, then spent 22 years serving her community as a seamstress.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Louise Kelly of Anaheim, Calif.; a sister-in-law Kathryn Blottman of Attleboro, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in the convent cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund, 701 E. Columbia Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45215.
