Bryan Sather, 54, Columbia Heights, MN, formerly of Greenbush, MN, died Saturday, December 22, at Our Lady of Peace Hospice Home in St. Paul, MN after a 2½ year battle with cancer.

Bryan Mark Sather, the son of Milton and Irene (Johnson) Sather was born on April 12, 1958 in Greenbush, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush. He attended school in Greenbush graduating in 1976. He attended Moorhead State University and graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration.

He worked at Miller Meester Advertising Agency as the Building Manager until the death of his father. At that time he moved to Greenbush to assist his mother for two years until she entered LifeCare Greenbush Manor. Upon returning to the Twin Cities, Bryan worked for Lowe's up until his diagnosis.

Bryan was an avid gardener and cook. He had beautiful gardens in his three-tiered back yard, following in his father's footsteps with a green thumb like no other. He loved to camp – especially at Itasca State Park. He loved to cook and bake using his mother's recipes, including lefse. He grew grapes and tomatoes and canned delicious jelly and wonderful tomato sauce. Bryan will be remembered for bringing all the cousins together for his annual "dumpling day" when he would cook 20# of potatoes for dumplings. It was a big potluck with dumplings being the "feature of the evening." This became a time-honored tradition in the family!

Bryan is survived by his mother, Irene, of Greenbush; one brother, Wayne (Becky) of Arden Hills, MN; two nephews: Matthew (Tanya) of Shoreview, MN and Scott (Morgan) of Madison, WI and one great-niece: Caleigh Grace of Shoreview, MN; aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Sather and his grandparents.

Memorial Services were held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 in Bethel Lutheran Church of Greenbush with Pastor Mark Mathews, officiating. Linda Sovde was the organist and special vocal music was provided by Marie Olson. Matthew & Scott Sather were Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers were Bryan's uncles, aunts & cousins. Inurnment will be in Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Greenbush.

Local arrangements were with Gieseke Funeral Chapel of Greenbush.
