Hugo H. Koerner, age 88, formerly of 9431 Hershau Rd., Cato, died Thursday afternoon, June 10, 2004 at St. Mary's Home in Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. The Rev. James Jugenheimer will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery with military graveside honors accorded by Otto-Oas VFW Post No. 659 of Manitowoc.
Hugo was born Feb. 27, 1916 in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, son of the late Joseph and Rose Kuehnl Koerner. He attended St. Michael's grade school in Whitelaw and was a 1938 graduate of the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago. Hugo was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran serving in the European Theater from Sept. 10, 1942 until Nov. 11, 1945. He was self-employed and ran Electric Motor Service and helped his brother Joseph farm in the town of Manitowoc Rapids. In the past Hugo enjoyed fishing and bowling. Hugo was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and St. Michael's Holy Name Society, and Otto-Oas VFW Post No. 659 of Manitowoc.
Survivors include one brother and one-sister-in-law: William Koerner of Two Rivers; Gertrude Koerner of West Allis; three nieces and one nephew, Marian Anderson of Milwaukee, Sr. Ann Koerner of Greenfield; Marilee (Jan) Rockley of West Allis; John (Kaila) Koerner of Two Rivers; other relatives and friends survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers: George, Joseph, and Clarence Koerner; four sisters-in-law: Lillian, Esther, Millie and Marie Koerner.
Relatives and friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church in Whitelaw from 10 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of services at 11 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is serving the Koerner family.
