Death has again visited one of our community's oldest settlers. He died Saturday evening at 8:20. Death was quite unexpected though for a number of years his health was not good.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at Cloverdale Church.
Rev. F. C. Whitmore of Longly officiating. Internment was made at Portage, Ohio.
Mr. David Kyser was born Sept 22, 1830 in Pennsylvania, coming to Columbiana County, Ohio some years later. On November 16, 1851 he was married to Miss Mary Kempher of Fostoria since which time they have resided in Wood County.
To this family were born eleven children - six having preceded him in death. He left a wife and five children, D.M. Kyser of Cloverdale, F.O. Kyser of Hemeter (??), North Dakota, Miss Alice Smith of Findlay, Ohio, Miss Anna Schoyer of Portage, Ohio, and Mrs, Emma Rutter of Custer, Ohio. He also left twenty nine Grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nine grand children and one great grand child preceded him in death. One sister also survives, Mrs. Mary Harmion of Montgomery township who was then 82 years.
Deceased was a carpenter by profession, and some of the oldest buildings in that community were monuments of his industry. He and his wife were married in the German Baptist Brethren Church when young, and were devout members. He had born his suffering for many years but did not show it because of his enduring disposition and those who cared for him during his last hours. A legacy better than gold in triumph of the Christian faith.
