Lester G. Mecca, age 73, of 2113 Columbus St., Manitowoc, died Monday morning, November 8, 1993, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral Services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 1993, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Roman Zbieranski O.F.M. with entombment in Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Graveside Military Services will be accorded by Amvets Post #99.

He was born May 9, 1920, at Manitowoc, son of Justine J. Mrozinski Mecca and the late Michael G. Mecca. He was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School Class of 1939 and then married the former Eileen Whalen, June 5, 1943, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Lombard, Ill. The couple just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. He was a Veteran of World War II serving with the United States Navy as a Radio Technician First Class receiving his honorable discharge in 1945. When the couple returned to Manitowoc, he was employed with the Mirro Aluminum Company for several years and then with the American Motors Corporation of Milwaukee for 27 yers until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Mecca was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 158 of Green Bay and a retired Journeyman Electrician of United Auto Workers Local 75.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen Mecca, Manitowoc; his mother, Justine Mecca, Manitowoc; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and David Neuser, Frankfurt, Germany, Marcia and John Johnsrud, Manitowoc; two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip and Debra Mecca, Appleton, Joseph and Charlotte Mecca, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren, Michael Neuser, Michele Neuser, Kristen Neuser, Nicole Burris, Scott Musial, Jenna Johnsrud, Kristal Mecca; one great grandchild, Tyler Musial two brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Louise Mecca, Alfred and Mary Jane Mecca, all of Manitowoc; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Delores Kew, Mason City, Iowa, Lorraine and Harold Payne, Des Moines, Iowa, Mary Jane and Leonard Kaufman, Pottstown, Pa.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Kenneth Kew.

Friends may all at the Pfeffer Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday where a payer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. by Rev. Roman Zbieranski O.F.M.
