He was a 1984 graduate of Port Neches-Groves High School and left for the U.S. Navy three days after graduation.
Tom was a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman for 10 years and served at Bethesda and Pensacola Naval Hospitals. He was also a graduate of the U.S. Army Respiratory Therapy Technician School. He was proudest of his service as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman; he made two Mediterranean cruises with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard USS Guam and USS Austin.
After leaving the Navy, he worked for St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur and was employed as a Computer Technician at Galena Park Independent School District until the onset of his illness. He was also a volunteer at the Houston Humane Society and a Life member of Disabled American Veterans.
Tom died at home in Houston on March 15, 2013 with his beloved Boxer Nala at his side.
