Winfield/Waynefield Scott Grant born in Tennessee on 1 February 1858 and died at the age of 70 of “Cardiac failure” in Knoxville on 2 November 1928 at the Knox General Hospital. Informant, R. Kirgess Grant of 118 Grainger Street Knoxville, listed Winfield’s parents as Rufus Grant and Lucy Parker. Rev. Grant was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery by Weaver Funeral Home (Death Certificate #26275)

He was a Methodist minister in Knoxville. According to Ethan Grant, Scot Grant became a banker and was president of the Third Tennessee National Bank in Knoxville until it failed during the financial crisis in 1933. A brother Mason of Grandfather Walker, (Rev. John Davis Walker, father of Susan Ellen Walker Grant) they were close friends and Uncle Scot visited us a number of times. He was tall, slim, and had a long white mustache, and was a joy to be with.

He married Sarah Jane Durham on 19 September 1878 in Anderson County, Tennessee. He married Nancy Childress on 1 January 1890 in Campbell County. She was born on 18 August 1871 and died in Knoxville on 21 February 1918 and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville. Scott also married an Evans and a McFadden. Scott and Sarah Jane are listed as having four children: Remer, Kirk, Vivian, and unknown.
