Dorothy F. Schmidt, age 88, of 1739 Johnston Drive in Manitowoc, died Thursday morning, August 29, 1996, at St. Mary's Home here, where she resided for the past three years.

The former Dorothy Albrecht was born May 14, 1908, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Herman and Ida (née Willert) Albrecht. She was educated in the Manitowoc Public School System.

On September 9, 1930, she married Edward L. Schmidt in Waukegan, Illinois. After their marriage the couple settled in Manitowoc.

Dorothy was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aide, Snip & Sew, Homemakers Club and various card clubs.

Survivors include her husband, Edward of Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet M. and Aaron Ashbrenner, Kimberly; two sons and daughters-in-law, Berlyn R. and Sally Schmidt, Milwaukee, Robert E. and Judy Kay Schmidt, Manitowoc; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret Hobson, Clio, Michigan, Jennette and Art Butler, Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, James (Gail) Schmidt, Menomonee Falls, Nancy Sue Schmidt, Milwaukee, Traci Lee Schmidt, Chicago, Illinois, Debra Kay (Tom) Noennig, Germantown, Jennifer Catherine Schmidt, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Sarah (Jerry) Polzin, Appleton, Eric (Lori) Ashbrenner, Kansas City, Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Schmidt, Milwaukee, Drayton A. Polzin, Appleton. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at First Reformed United Church of Christ, Manitowoc, with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
