John Clinton Jacobs, Sr. married Mary Elizabeth Pruett/Pruitt on January 28, 1844 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. They had, at least, eight children.
Children:
W. P.
Mary Elizabeth
Luther Rice
Fletcher P.
Dallas Polk
P. W. John
Littice
Mattie.
In a 1852 Rutherford County, Tennessee court document, John Clinton Jacobs, Sr. was mentioned as the guardian for some of the John Painter and Malinda Kindle Painter's grandchildren, children of their deceased daughter, Malinda Manerva Painter Stephenson, namely, James Porter, Sarah A., Tabitha Jane, Mary E., William Thomas, Louisa and John Stephenson.
The question is, why would Malinda Painter allow guardianship to be granted to John Clinton Jacobs, Sr., if he were not somehow related to her???
