Helen Ludington Pope was the daughter of Clarence Ludington and Laura Worstel Ludington. Helen was first married to Elymas Artz on 7 January 1934. They had a daughter named Janet Sue Artz. Elymas Artz died on 21 August 1943. Helen later married James Thomas Pope on 4 March 1948. Janet lived with Tom and Helen. Janet had a daughter named Susan Kim Artz/Pope. Janet died in a car accident and Tom and Helen adopted Kim.

Helen previously resided at Valparaiso, Indiana

Pope, Helen L., age 91, of Trussville, died September 15, 2000. She was a member of Trussville First Baptist Church; retired from Loveman's Department Store. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 19, at 3 p.m. at Ridout's Roebuck Chapel with burial in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Dr. Jerry Hollingsworth officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Survivors: husband, James Thomas Pope; daughter, Susan Kim Pope of Forestdale. Ridout's Roebuck Chapel directing.
