Carl Wilmot Story Jr. passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Carl was born on Jan. 2, 1926, in Coleman, to Dealva and Carl Story Sr. He had been a Fort Worth resident since 1938. In his early years he was a country music entertainer, local disc jockey and songwriter known as the "Palomino Kid." Three of his songs were recorded by country music star Ernest Tubb. He spent 32 years in the aircraft industry, retiring from Bell Helicopter in 1986. Carl loved working out at his local health club, car races, riding his motorcycle, convertibles, road trips, German shepherd dogs, supper on time and coffee on the front porch. His wit and dry humor will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hershel Watkins; sister, Rosemary Coker; and daughter, Lindy Story. Survivors: Daughters, Carla Keatley and husband, Jonathan, Cynthia Story; son, Marty Story and wife, Lillian; grandchildren, Susan Saniei, Michael Story, Misty Minor, Stephen Saniei, Marcus Story, Katherine Keatley and Phylicia Matteson; great-grandchildren, Zayin Carly Evans, Asha Marrow; and caregiver, James Cain.
