MEEK, JR., CECIL D. - of Millertown Pike, Knoxville, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2009.

He was member of Fountain City United Methodist Church, Tennessee Bar Association and the Knoxville Bar Association. Cecil was a graduate of Baylor Military School and the University of Tennessee. He was also a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Delta Phi, Order of COIF, Sigma Chi, Pershing Rifles (ROTC), (ROTC Army), Tennessee Air National Guard 134th Fighter Group and a Lieutenant in the Air Force. Cecil was an active partner in the Law firm of Haynes, Meek, Summers & Stanuszek.

A very loved, respected and giving man, Cecil will always be remembered in our hearts and minds. He was a man whose ethics, care and honesty were as genuine as his love of family, God and friends. Our hearts may ache but we celebrate his moving to a painless, perfect world. Our world's loss is heavens gain. Cecil loved his animals and the outdoors.

Preceded in death by Shirley A. Meek. Survivors, wife Maggie Meek; sons and daughter-in-law, C. Daniel Meek, III and wife Michelle M. Meek, David M. Meek and Debbie Clark, Richard and Jan Bolus, Chuck and Angie Bolus, Eva M. Bolus and Dr. Hugh LaFollette; numerous grandchildren; sister, Marie Meek Kreis Guinn and husband Col. (Ret.) William D. Guinn, Jr.; brothers, E. Gary Meek and wife Ann, Thomas Meek, Truan Meek and wife Patsy Onk Meek, Hazen Meek and wife Linda Meek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, March 5, 2009 at 7 pm at Fountain City United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Jim Whedbee, Rev. Don Hanshew, Rev. Melissa Smith and Mr. John Needy. Pallbearers will be Richard Bolus, Chuck Bolus, Hayden Bolus, Allen Mitchell, John Roach, David Crigger, Greg Slack and Greg Burch. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Fountain City Methodist Church. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Volunteer State Honor Guard. Graveside service will be at 11 am Friday, March 6, 2009 at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Gentry-Griffey Funeral Chapel.
