(1921 - 2005)

Elmer H. Klein, 84, a former Village of Cleveland resident, went home to his Lord, March 29, 2005, at Morningside Health Center in Sheboygan, where be had been a resident the past four years.

Elmer was born Jan. 30, 1921 in the Town of Centerville, the son of the late William and Mary Wessling Klein. He graduated from St. Wendel Catholic School in Cleveland. On April 21, 1945 Elmer was united in marriage to Elsie Schaetzer at St. Wendel Catholic Church in Cleveland, The couple resided in the Town of Centerville where they engaged in dairy farming. In the early 1950s he became an employee of the Kohler Co., where he worked until his retirement in 1984. The couple moved into the village of Cleveland in 1979. Elsie passed away May 5, 2002. The marriage was blessed with five children. Elmer was a member of St. Wendel Catholic Church in CIeveland and served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Cleveland Fish and Game Club and drove the Red Cross van for the Cleveland Senior Citizen Center.

EImer is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Eugene (Vickie) Klein of San Francisco, Calif., Elroy (Cathy) Klein of Manitowoc and Edward Klein of Cleveland; two daughters and one son-in-law, Elaine (Wayne) Johnson and Eileen Dekanich and special friend, Jerry Gibeault of Cleveland; nine grandchildren, Chris Klein of Ohio, Vickie Rabe of Sheboygan, Daniel Klein of Manitowoc, Rebecca Klein of Stevens Point, Jason Klein of Manitowoc, Ryan Klein of Virginia, Jill Johnson of Maryland, Aaron Johnson of Waukesha and his fiancee, Alice Calhoun and Ben Dekanich of Cleveland; eight great-grandchildren and one brother, Theodore (Ted) Klein of Sheboygan. Preceding Elmer in death were his parents, his wife, one son-in-law, four brothers, and three sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Elmer will be held on Saturday, April 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Road, in the Town of Newton. The Rev. David Beaudry will be celebrant of the Mass. Burial will follow the service at St. Wendel Catholic Cemetery in Cleveland.

Friends may call at the Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel, 1056 Hemlock St. in Cleveland on Friday, April 1, from 4 until 8 p.m. and at the church from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday. A parish prayer service will be held at the Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Klein's name.
