Linford Haddox "DOC" Smith, 53, passed away here on Tuesday, January 1, and funeral services were held here Saturday.
Born in Pawnee on August 16, 1926 to John Charles and Lila(Sheats) Smith, he served in both WWII and the Korean conflict as a paratrooper.
He married Evelyn Marie Smith on March 18, 1967 in Newark, N.J. and they moved to Pawnee, April 24, 1975 and they have been here since.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Kithehawke band of the Pawnee tribe of Indians.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Marie Smith of the home and two brothers : Jimmy of Pawnee and David of Skiatook.
The Rev. Floyd Freeman officiated at the service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan.5 at the Indian Baptist church. Interment was in the South Indian cemetery under direction of the Poteet Funeral Home.
