Walter L. Edwards, 79, of Auburn died at 5:45 p.m. Monday at St. John's hospital
He was born in Springfield, the son of Alfred and Anna Stroisch Edwards. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Auburn United Methodist Church. He owned and operated the Edwards Variety Store in Auburn for 22 years before his retirement in 1969. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine (Cloud); one son, Ronald of Champaign; one sister, Mrs. Nellie Crouse of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday at Berry Funeral Home, Auburn, the Rev. Raymond Bassett officiating. Burial was in the Waverly East Cemetery.
