Robert Carson's Skull Fractured by a Kick from a Horse's Hoof.
Robert Carson of Holmdel was killed by being kicked by a horse last Thursday. He went into the stable about half-past one o'clock and a horse kicked at him, striking him on the knee. This knocked Mr. Carson's legs from under him and he fell toward the horse, lying on the stable floor just behind the animal. Before he could move the horse kicked him in the head several times, fracturing the skull. Gilbert Dey, a man employed by Mr. Carson, saw the accident and he pulled him from behind the horse. With the help of neighbors Mr. Carson was carried to the house. Dr. Cooke was hastily summoned, but his services were unavailing, and Mr. Carson died a little after four o'clock. Mr. Carson leaves a wife and two daughters, the latter just grown up. He was a prosperous farmer, and was one of the best-known men in the township. He was a brother of William Carson, who for several years was deputy internal revenue collector. He was about 63 years old and was born at Marlboro. He moved to Holmdel about 25 years ago. The pall bearers were Theodore Aumack, Charles Aumack, Charles P. Conover, John R. DuBois, Eugene Ely, William S. Crawford and Theodore Stilwell. Note: Wife Harriet Henderson died 3/25/1915 and daughter Marietta 12/3/1950.
