Frank Burke, 50 Dies in Hospital
Well Known Telephone Employee Succumbs To Long Illness

Edward Frank Burke, 50, long time Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph company employee and widely know Red Cross first aid instructor, died at 4 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's hospital after an illness of two months.
One-time first aid man for the telephone company, Mr. Burke conducted Red Cross classes here and at Syracuse in recent years. His most recent classes were for Nebraska City air raid wardens and Nebraska City fireman.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Burke, he was born September 10, 1892, at Valley, Neb. He married Edith Zwiebel at Fremont on April 17, 1918. Mrs. Burke and two children, Winifred Burke Weston of Berkley, Cal., and Donald E. Burke with the U.S. Navy at Jacksonville Fla. Survive. Mrs. Weston's husband is in the Army. Also surviving is a brother Albert E. Burke, Fremont.
A member of the Methodist church and Masonic Lodge, Mr. Burke resided at Lincoln before coming to Nebraska City in September 1937.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday from Fassbender Funeral Home with Rev. Homer Taylor of Ashland in charge. Burial will be in Prospect Hill cemetery at Elkhorn.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended funeral services for Edward Frank Burke Wednesday afternoon were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. John Porter, Mrs. Ethyl Armstrong and son, Max Ashland; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Zwiebel, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Zwiebel, Mr. and Mrs. A Snider, Springfield; Mrs. A. E. Burke, Mrs. Irving Hindmarsh, Fremont; Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Burke, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Zwiebel, Lois and Harold, Mr. and Mrs. floyde Corson, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Berlinghof, Mrs. George Pardee,Omaha; and Miss Betty Janssen, Lincoln Mrs. T. M. Spinner Lincoln has been a guest at the E. F. Burke home all this week.
