Joost Peter Baron van Aerssen Beijeren van Voshol, was a son of Albrecht Nicolaas baron van AB van Voshol and Elisabeth Catharina Greven. He married in Paris 12-12-1853 Anna Maria Sutton, 1823-1909, daughter of Robert Nassau (son of the 1st baronet Sutton) and Mary Georgiana Manners Sutton, making with this marriage his daughter a direct descendant of William of Orange, the founding father of the Netherlands.
Joost Peter died in Sintra, near Lisbon, while in function as Minister-Resident of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Portuguese Court.
