Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Carlson was born in Pickens County. She was the daughter of the late Carlisle Pickens Cely and Daphen Earle Cely. Betty, as she was known to her family and friends, lived in Darlington for many years with her former husband, D. Kenneth Baker. She was active in her community having been the first female ever elected to the Darlington City Council and the Darlington County Council. She was the former owner of Kids Stop Day Care in Darlington.
Surviving are her husband, Raymond T. Carlson of Florence; her son, Jack Bradley (Lynn) Baker of Lexington, SC; her daughter, Cely Anne (Gregory) Brigman of Darlington; her daughter-in-law, Lisa M. Baker of Hartsville; and her grandchildren, Baker Fields Reynolds; Emma Simms Reynolds; Derrick Kenneth Baker, II; Kathryn Edens Baker; and Jack Bradley Baker, Jr.
Mrs. Carlson was preceded in death by her two sons, Derrick Kenneth Baker, Jr.; and Lee Pickens Baker.
The family will be at the home of her daughter's, Cely Anne Brigman, 122 Wyandot Street, Darlington, SC.
