Mary Elizabeth "Bettye" Mallang (Schlegel) went home to be with God on September 12, 2002. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, USA in 1918, the Daughter of Harley Edwin Schlegel and Alice May Love of Carnegie, OK. and moved to Everett, WA as the wife of Edward A. Mallang Jr. in 1949 where she remained and raised her family until her death.
She retired from Scott Paper Company in 1983.
Mary Elizabeth 'Bettye' (20 yrs) Married Jay Lee Adams Jr, USAAF (22 yrs) Feb, 1938. She was widowed by the death of SSGT (USAAF) Jay Lee Adams, on Jan 10, 1945, when his B-17 was shot down and crashed near Olne, Belgium during Jay's 23rd Bombing Mission against Nazi Germany.
Of this union, she had one (1) Daughter, Lois Janet Adams, born March 31, 1944, and one son Jay Lee Adams 3rd. who died in infancy of unknown cause.
Mary Elizabeth married Edward A. Mallang Jr., on 5 March, 1948, in Lawton, OK. Of this union she had two (2) children, Edward Andy Mallang 3rd, and Judyth Vanessa Mallang.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her first born son Jay Lee Adams Jr, who died as an infant, her first husband Jay Lee Adams of Sentinel, OK, her 2nd Husband Edward A. Mallang Jr., of Everett, WA, a brother Willard Kern Schlegel of Elgin, OK, and two sisters; Lorena S Hubbert of San Angelo, TX, and Annabelle Berry of Carnegie, OK.
She is survived by three children; Lois Janet Norberg (Adams) of Sultan, WA, Edward Andy "Skip" Mallang 3rd and his wife Geneva Jewel (Fifield) of Everett, WA and Judyth Vanessa Conkling (Mallang) of Everett, WA., eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
