Hubert Chasteen, Sr was the son of the late Mary C. Gadd and Nicholas (Nick) Chasteen, and husband of Anna Lee Reppert Chasteen. His mother passed away when he was only eight, leaving behind six children. In time, Nicholas married Annie Phillips, who presented him with five more children. Hubert married Anna Lee Reppert in 1939, and they had five children: Clayton Wayne, Hubert, Jr, Janet, Joyce, and Darleen. He worked as a carpenter, moving his family to Ohio for a time before returning to Kentucky. He also farmed and raised cattle. He was a life-long member of Fairview Baptist Church, and a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved the Lord. On February 28, 2005, he lost his devoted wife of nearly sixty-six years to a cerebral aneurism. Within days of her death, he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins type lymphoma. His family and the wonderful, compassionate ministrants of Hospice cared for him during his illness, but he was too weakened by heartbreak to stay, and he joined his wife in Heaven a month after her death, on March 28, 2005. He is continually missed by the family he left behind.
