Clair L Scouten, 65, RD 1 Spartansburg, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon. He was born April 4, 1897, in Sparta Twp, son of the late Emmet and Nellie Sherlock Scouten. On Sept 29, 1920 (sic) [Sept 28, 1920], he married Flossie Skiff who survives with three sons, Clayton, RD 1 Corry; Cleon of McKean; and Richard, Morocco, Africa; and one daughter, Mrs Joyce Donche, West Covina, CA. Also surviving are one son-in-law, Charles Wetherbee, RD 2 Centerville; 14 grandchildren;three brothers, Elbert, RD 1 Spartansburg; Arthur, RD 2 Spartansburg; Paul, RD 3 Spartansburg; and two sisters, Mrs Jennie Smith, Guys Mills; and Mrs Edith Davis of Corry. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs Doris Wetherbee, on Feb 19, 1958. Friends may call at the H Richard Hays Funeral Home in Spartansburg.
