LA MARQUE - Mrs. Betty J. Rutledge passed from this life Thursday evening, November 12, 2009, in Webster.
Born March 8, 1934, in Galveston, Texas, Mrs. Rutledge had been a resident of La Marque for many years, previously having lived in Hitchcock for forty years. She had retired from the Alvin Post Office after twenty-three years of service as a postal clerk. Betty was an avid Bunco player and enjoyed spending time dancing at the VFW, traveling the West, and fishing and reading. Above all, she loved and enjoyed her family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands A. B. Allen and Floyd Lee Rutledge; son Gerald Andrew "Andy" Tholen; parents Kenneth and Lula Mae (Wilson) Nunn and is survived by her loving companion Dwayne D. Donaldson of La Marque; daughters Lyla Prino of Hitchcock, Linda Tholen and companion Chris Sembera of Alvin; daughter-in-law Donna Chisum Tholen of Hitchcock; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday November 16, 2009, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Lou Ann Amador officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East in Webster.
Casketbearers will be Ian Prino, Joshua Prino, Justin Pugh, Chris Sembera, Jerad Tholen and Kenneth Welch.
