James Howard Abbott, born April 10, 1921, passed away at home on Friday evening, June 2nd, at the age of 96.

He was a believer in Jesus Christ and a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He greatly enjoyed his Sunday School class, as well as his friendships at the Union Hall.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayme Anthony Abbott, parents, William P. Abbott and Lucy Davis Abbott, brother, Kenneth Abbott, and sister, Dorothy Abbott Boswell.

He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Tony) and Martha Abbott, John and Kathy Abbott; daughters and sons-in-law, Camilla and Donald Benson, Carmen and James Bramblett; grandchildren, Travis (Paige) Benson, Marshall (Brande) Benson, Nina (David) Schultz, Ash (Christy) Bramblett, all of Maryville, Tyler (Erisha) Abbott of Soddy-Daisy, TN and Jordan Bramblett of Mobile, AL; step-grandchildren, Wesley Whitehead and Julie Leach of Maryville; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Kellen, and Willa Abbott, Brianne Benson, India, Alice, and James Bramblett, Samuel and Benjamin Schultz; step great-grandchildren, Hailey Schultz, Bree Anna Leach, Bryce Lyons; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Peggy Abbott of Maryville, Paul and Lorraine Abbott of Knoxville, and sister Martha Jane Carter of Colorado Springs, CO, along with many nieces, nephews, and beloved pets.

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6th, 2017, at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 7th, at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with interment to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Ash Bramblett and Pastor Greg Long, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association.
