Neva was born to E.P. Solomon and Irene Mero. She grew up in Caldwell, Idaho with her three older siblings, Ethel, Myrtle, and Jean (Solly). Neva attended Green Top, Dixie and Notus Schools.
In 1947, she married Bernard T. Gascon. Neva retired from Simplot in 1995. She also worked at Evan's, tying fishing flies, I.D.E.A and in the cafeteria at Van Buren Elementary.
Neva was a remarkable cook and was quickly branded "The Rum Cake Lady". She always had an open door policy for anyone who needed a meal or those who wanted to learn her special culinary secrets, everything from her pies, gazpacho to her amazing taco meat.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Gascon and Sandra Clevenger; grandchildren, Shonna and Kevin Gentry, Shane Mashburn, Martin DeBoard and Mike DeBoard; and two great-nieces, Kelli Korn and Nichole Fenton.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Bernie Deboard and husband, Bernard T. Gascon.
Neva's family would like to thank Treasure Valley Hospice, Dennis and Lorna Howard and the countless other people who helped make her last few months not only enjoyable but memorable.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the Canyon County Animal Shelter 5801 Graye Lane Caldwell, ID 83607 or the Parma Rural Fire & EMS P.O. Box 702 Parma, ID 83660.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Caldwell, Idaho. Graveside services to follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery.
