Emma Margaret Coward was the daughter of Richard Addison Coward and Harriet Buckner Smith Coward. She married Sevan Jirou on Jan. 5, 1866. Jirou died before the 1880 census, leaving her a widow with four children ranging from 4 to 11 years of age. On Dec. 22, 1881, in Refugio County, Texas, Emma married Charles A.F. Leisering, who himself had been widowed about a year before.
