WALTER SWIGER

Walter A. Swiger, age 84, of 1110 Lake Lane, Manitowoc, died Friday, June 9, 2000, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2000, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Donald Staude, with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

Walter was born November 21, 1915, in Clarksburg, W. Va., son of the late Austin and Julia Lyons Swiger. Walter served in the United States Army for five years following his graduation from high school and also served in the United States Navy during World War II.

He married Margaret Sampont Nelson in 1948. On April 29, 1967 he married Evelyn NcDonald in Kenosha, Wis.

Walter was a shop supervisor with A.O. Smith Co. and also at Harnischfeger Industries, retiring in 1981.

He was an active member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church and was also a member of V.F.W. Post #10509 in Greendale, Wis., American Legion Drews-Bleser Post #88, Manitowoc and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #706 Manitowoc.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Swiger, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law, (private, Franklin, one brother, Jennings Swiger, West Virginia; other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Brooks and three sisters, Ersie,
Jule and Beulah.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church on Tuesday morning, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
