The following was received by Mrs. K. Bangs, the reader of the First Church of Christ, Scientist from Mrs. Minnie Berger, whose husband met his death a few days ago in falling from the No. 1 coal dock to the deck of the steamer Inter-Ocean:

Dear Friends,
Words fail me to express my thanks to you for all you have done for me. Divine Love alone can pay the debt. The master said, 'What you have done unto the least of these ye have done unto me." I know that without this "ever present help in the time of need," I could not have carried my burden as I have.

Only a kind word spoken
when my mind with gloom was filled,
Only a thought of love expressed
yet the wave of grief was stilled,
If a loving thought in mercy given
could put my mind at ease,
I marvel not that Jesus' words
could still the stormy seas.

- With heartfelt thanks, Mrs. Minnie Berger
