Michael was the eldest son of James and Mary (Annis) Carpetis. He had two older sisters: Helen (Carpetis) Karathanos, Koula (Carpetis) Boras, and two younger brothers: Constantine (Gus), and George. He and his wife Thelma had four children: James, Robert, Thomas, and Paul Carpetis. Thomas died a few days after birth. Mr. Carpetis, like his brothers George and Constantine, served in the United States Army during World War II.
