OLIVER E. VOIGT

Oliver E. Voigt, age 89, of 2206 S. 9th St., Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Wednesday evening, Nov. 12, 2008, at the family residence.

Oliver was born on May 28, 1919, in Reedsville. He was the son of the late Elmer and Elsie (Valleskey) Voigt. Oliver was a graduate of Reedsville High School, with the class of 1935. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he studied agriculture. Oliver served his country with the U.S. Air Force from 1941 until 1945, stationed two of those years in Panama.

After his honorable discharge he returned to the Manitowoc area, where he became employed with 21st Century Genetics for the next 36 years. He then became employed with H & R Block for six years, and then started his own accounting firm, Voigt Tax Services, which he operated for 13 years.

On Oct. 1, 1946, he married Ione L. Kolb at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newtonburg.

Oliver was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother-in-law: Carola in infancy, and Beverly and Edward Meyer; and one brother and sister-in-law: Lloyd and Verna Mae Voigt.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, Manitowoc, with the Revs. Stephen Melso and Robert Kujawski officiating. Entombment will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Friday (TONIGHT), Nov. 14, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m., and at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

The family requests memorials to be directed to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, N. 11th and St. Clair streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
