Mary Rose Whitlatch, 79, formerly of Richhill Township and Waynesburg R.D.5, died unexpectedly at 6:20 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2002, in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, of apparent heart failure.
She was born January 14, 1923, in Barbour County, W.Va., a daughter of Everette and Elsie Newman Mayhle.
Mrs. Whitlatch resided in Richhill Township for more than 30 years prior to moving to Franklin Township, where she lived for about 10 years. She had been a resident of the nursing home for the past two years.
She attended Crabapple Community Church for several years and Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church in Waynesburg as long as her health permitted.
Mrs. Whitlatch enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and baking.
On February 18, 1944, she married Thomas Harold Whitlatch Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Judith Higginbotham of Waynesburg; three sons, Charles E.Whitlatch of West Finley R.D.2, Donald R. Whitlatch of Wind Ridge and William H. Whitlatch of Sycamore R.D.1; two brothers, Virgil T. Mayhle of Waynesburg and Cecil Mayhle of Erie; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Thomas H. Whitlatch Jr. and Robert Paul Whitlatch; a grandson, Terry Lee Whitlatch; and three brothers, Lucas, Merle and Calvin Mayhle.
