Rudolph A. ""Rudy"" Wettstein, age 91, of W4558 Hickory Hills Rd. Stockbridge died on Wednesday May 5, 2004 at Calumet Homestead in New Holstein.

He was born October 25, 1912 in the Town of Chilton son of the late Simon & Gertrude (Klapperich) Wettstein. Rudy married Lillian R. Hoerth on October 27, 1945 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Kloten. He lived on the family homestead in the Town of Stockbridge for 88 years where he farmed until semi-retiring at the age of 67. Rudy attended St. Mary Grade School in Stockbridge. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge and a former member of the Holy Name Men. He enjoyed sturgeon fishing, picking out hickory nuts, & tinkering in his garage. Rudy also was a member of AA for 45 years and started the Wood Burners Saturday morning group in August 1990.

He is survived by his wife: Lillian of Stockbridge; 3 children: Susan (Ronald) Steiner of Stockbridge, Alice Wettstein of Raleigh, NC, and Thomas Wettstein of Stockbridge; a granddaughter: Melanie (Rick) Krause of Greenville; 2 great grandchildren: Matthew & MaKenna Krause; and also a brother & sisters-in-laws: Lorena Meyers, Art (Jean) Hoerth, Irene Dickrell & Verena Sanderson. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Irma & a twin sister Romilda; and 3 brothers: Alfonse Gregor & Arno.

Funeral services will be at 11AM on Saturday May 8, 2004 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge with the Rev. Leander Nickel officiating. Entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4 - 8:00 PM on Friday May 7, 2004 and on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:30 - 10:30 when family prayers will be held.
